Cariocca Enterprises Launches - New Internship Programme

We’re pleased to announce our newly launched employment training and internship initiative for young people aged 17 to 29: “The imPACT Programme”.

The project is derived from our original creation, Positive Action Cariocca Training (PACT), which was active in the 1990's when young people from ethnic minority communities were provided with training and placements into work experience positions within the corporate arena.  The refreshed imPACT Programme will give young people from disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to learn key employment skills and gain valuable work experience in the sports, engineering, technology, finance, and health sectors.

In partnership with Dynamic Heights Training, an award-winning personal development organisation, the revitalised imPACT programme will allow Cariocca to implement its long-held ambition of addressing inequality and the lack of diversity and opportunities in specialised sectors.

Cleveland McCurdy, Chair of Cariocca said, “Cariocca recognises the need for more young people in Greater Manchester to gain skills and experience in careers that would normally seem out of reach to them. The imPACT programme aims to address this need and, where we can, provide much-needed assistance to enable them to aspire to enter these professions.”

Young people will be provided with employability training, coaching, mentoring, CV writing, interview, and presentation skills, including talks from inspirational speakers, before taking up a weeklong internship with a partner organisation.

We will fund this 7-week programme, including the cost of transport and lunches for those students that require assistance to and from the training centre or placement venue.

The first cohort started the training programme in late April, with the work experience placement starting the week beginning 5th June.
