Winners&Cheque1

In an initiative led by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), we ran a competition for students at Manchester Academy, tasking them with coming up with an idea for a new business.

We partnered with Benetimo Health & Digital PR, Pomegranate Consulting and The Apprentice Academy to run the competition for students at the Academy. Sponsorship was also provided by State Bank of India.

The competition took place over six weeks with five groups of students asked to come up with a business idea and put together a business plan.  In the final week, the students had to pitch to a panel of ‘investors.’

Each group of students was led and mentored by a representative from Cariocca, TiE, Benetimo, Pomegranate and Manchester Academy.

The winning pitch was from a group of students who ‘developed’ a watch-style monitoring device that could alert emergency services when a patient needed assistance when it detected critical changes to their health.

Each student from the winning group was awarded high street vouchers of £100 and every other student received £25 in vouchers, too.

We were really impressed by the ideas from all the students and it was difficult to choose one winner.

State Bank of India also awarded £1,000 to the school.

TiE is a global networking and mentoring organisation with more than 50,000 members. We offer free membership to our tenants.
