Sonia is a long serving Local Government Officer, whose service has spanned over 40 years within the public sector, with her background mainly being within Human Resources and Organisational Development, Training and Development, Equalities, Event Management, and Community Engagement.
Sonia was an Ambassador when Manchester was bidding for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and held several managerial roles pre-Games, during the Games and was part of the post Games report team.
An active trade unionist, Sonia is currently Assistant Branch Secretary and Branch Equalities Officer within UNISON Manchester Local Government Branch, was the first female Chair of the Branch Executive Committee and former Branch Vice President. She sits on Branch, Regional, and National Committees.
Sonia is also a Registrar (marriages) and has carried out voluntary community work over many years. She is currently Chair of the Jamaica Society, Manchester.
